“What’s your deepest secret?”

Marlow is an upstanding Mage Officer of the Law. He also happens to have a superhuman libido ever since he hit puberty and came into his powers as a Storm Mage.

Storm mages were powerful and rare and Marlow had the ability to control and manifest every element that made up the universe. The surge of such great power flowing through his veins, meant an increased metabolism and hence a very fast recovery rate, leaving him with a very 'stiff Marlow' on many inopportune occasions. 

“Get laid, Marlow King,”

“Then you can have your magic back.”

Rembrandt “Remy” Parker is a fellow Mage Officer. He is extremely skilled but has no real natural magic of his own. Instead he uses magical technological equipment to cast any spell he desires. Despite of his lack of natural magic, he can sure hold his own in a fight, especially against one particular, powerful Storm Mage.

After an intense sparring session, that has Marlow losing against Remy, he takes the long way home to clear his head. There upon he spots a woman carrying a large tome, coming from the direction of a blaring burglar alarm. When Marlow threatens to turn her in for stealing, she curses him to forgo his magic until he finds someone worthy of taking his 'burden' from him.

Cursed by a rogue mage, Marlow will do anything necessary to get his powers back, even if that means asking help from his very nemesis.

This short novella packed quite a punch!

First off, I loved the world building! It was very unique and authentic.

I especially liked the concept of Magical equipment for non Mages and MagiTech. The storyline was quite compelling and the characters had chemistry and were well fleshed out. This was a quick read and kept me engaged throughout!

Overall, a quick bite with an engaging  plot, coupled with likeable characters 

and unique world building.
