THE WICKED STEPBROTHER & OTHER STORIES BY WARREN ROCHELLE : BOOK REVIEW

Image
BLURB Fairy tales. Prince Charming fights evil, wins the princess, lives happily ever after. Three sons, three wishes, witches, dragons, a quest, and happily ever after. These stories are part of our cultural fabric. The stories change in retellings to reflect contemporary culture, such as Princess Charming, or heroes and heroines as people of color. In this collection, queer characters take center stage in stories that grew out of questions: What if the prince falls in love with Cinderella's gay stepbrother? What if Rumpelstiltskin doesn't really want the Queen's child but rather the King himself? What if Beauty and the Beast are two men? These stories explore metaphors of magic and the magical, this time, with a gay perspective. What price must be paid for happily ever after? Duty or love? Is love worth great sacrifice? Once upon a time . REVIEW  I absolutely adored this brilliant collection of diverse fairytale retellings put together. These retellings are dark, realisti

BOOK REVIEW : PROMISE ME BY AG MEIERS

BLURB  A Fortune shouldn’t get you killed. A Promise shouldn’t break your heart. Attorney Rafe Stanton knows making promises is a dangerous thing. Over and over he has failed to keep people under his protection safe. For years he watched his younger cousin Noah lose his battle with drugs and alcohol, which eventually led to a deadly car accident. When he finds out about Noah’s secret marriage to Logan Tate, Rafe has one last chance for redemption. Inheriting a fortune should be a blessing, but for Logan life never works out that way. He’s learned the hard way that dreams don’t come true—and if they do, well, there is usually a hefty price tag attached. All he really wants is a quiet life, but that isn’t in the cards when his apartment gets broken into and a pretentious lawyer from Boston arrives thinking he can call the shots. The two men don’t see eye-to-eye about the inheritance, but with Noah’s powerful family coming after Logan, they find themselves reluctantly on the same side. A

BLURB  Brian  You’ll make it out of here, Brian. I swear.  I had everything—school quarterback, popular with girls, and my dad was proud of me. I told myself it didn’t matter no one knew the real me. And then I nearly died. Landon saved my life. He’s the bravest guy I know. He came out a few years ago, proud and fierce, and he ran into gunfire to help others. Me, I’m a mess. Can’t even stand to be in a room with the curtains open. But here’s the thing about losing it all: You get a chance to start over and be someone new. Only how can I move on when the two shooters who attacked our school were never caught? And why do I feel like I’m still in the crosshairs?  Landon  Will you kiss me?  When I came across Brian Marshall, the hottest guy in school, dying on the cafeteria floor, I did what anyone would do. I tried to save him. His request surprised me, but I figured he needed comfort, so I kissed him on the forehead. When he survived and came back to school, he was broken in body and min

CHARACTER BLEED SERIES (1-3) BY K.L. NOONE : BOOK REVIEW

Image
Seaworthy (Character Bleed Book 1) BLURB An epic motion picture! A gay Napoleonic War love story! Ballrooms and battles at sea! Romantic happy endings on the silver screen! And a film that’ll change everything for its stars ... Jason Mirelli can’t play adrenaline-fueled action heroes forever. He’s getting older, plus the action star parts have grown a little thinner since he came out as bisexual. This role could finally let him be seen as a serious dramatic actor, and he needs it to go well -- for his career, and because he’s fallen in love with the story and the chance to tell it. The first problem? He’ll be playing a ship’s captain ... and he hasn’t exactly mentioned his fear of water. The second problem? His co-star: award-winning, overly talkative, annoyingly adorable -- and openly gay – box office idol Colby Kent. Colby’s always loved the novel this film’s based on, and he leapt at the chance to adapt it, now that he has the money and reputation to make it happen. But scars and

BLURB Their leap of faith could unleash magic--or plunge them into darkness. Henry Thorn has worked at Larkin's since graduating high school. He likes it--especially when he can use his secret skill of hiding inside shadows so his boss can't find him. Without that talent, he would never have survived growing up different. When a new hire enters the store, Henry's other latent talent kicks in. He can smell an emotional response even before he lays eyes on the redhead. Jamey Currey came out, and his conservative parents promptly kicked him out. He, too, is different--he senses Henry's attraction the moment they meet. The first time they kiss, torrential rains fall from skies split by lightning. Their kiss also awakens the Watchers, diabolical hunters who will stop at nothing--even extermination--to keep magic suppressed. With the help of a coven of friendly witches, the boys embark on a quest to discover an ancient key to restoring magic to the world, and to understand

A BOY MADE OF SUNSHINE BY COLETTE DAVISON : AUDIOBOOK REVIEW

Image
A Boy Made of Sunshine by Colette Davison Narrator : Dan Calley Length : 6h 26m BLURB   A strict Daddy. A sassy neighbour. Can opposites attract? After taking early retirement, Liam is happy avoiding people and tending to his roses. Or he was, until young film star Felix moves in next door. With his cheeky, persistent, and very naughty behaviour, Felix gets under Liam’s skin instantly. Felix needs Liam to teach him how to behave, but will calling the older man Daddy be enough to bring sunshine into Liam’s life? REVIEW   This was an adorable age gap romance with light daddy kink and low on the angst. It features one grumpy ex cop, one cheeky neighbor, an adorable Dalmatian puppy and a whole lot of feels. This book really made me smile and I absolutely adored Felix. If you love a sweet sunshine and grumpy, opposites attract romance, low on the angst and high on the steam, I definitely recommend this one.
