NATURAL TWENTY BY CHARLIE NOVAK : BOOK REVIEW

Natural Twenty (Roll for Love #1) by Charlie Novak

BLURB

Plants are easier than people—that’s Leo’s rule of thumb. After all, nobody really wants a man who looks like he belongs in a biker gang but would rather spend his time buried in books and flowers. It’s just easier to be single. Until he meets the owner of the new book shop.

Jacob Morris knows two things: he’s really attracted to the man who runs the local flower shop, and he doesn’t date. Not when he’s still healing from a bad breakup, has a new business to run, game nights to organise, workshops to host, and a website to build.

When friendship blooms into something more, Leo and Jay must decide whether to roll the dice and take a chance on love or keep forging ahead on their quests alone. Will their roll yield a one or a perfect, natural twenty?

Natural Twenty is an 80,000-word contemporary MM romance featuring Dungeons & Dragons, secret flower language bouquets, a spoilt Staffy (or two), and a best friend who is basically a gothic prince. It is book one in the Roll for Love series and can be read as a standalone

REVIEW

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jay has just come out of a long term relationship after he found his ex cheating on him with his then bestfriend. The sting of betrayal is still fresh and runs deep.

He is now trying to start afresh and is content in setting up his new bookstore alongside his silent partner and best friend, Edward.

Between organizing gaming nights and helping the store run smoothly, he is also keen on making a particular patron come out of his shell and open up. He may or may not have a massive crush on said patron.

Leo dreamed of becoming a Rockstar once. But after four years of drifting through university and unable to find what he wanted to pursue, he ended up helping his gran with church flowers to pass the time.

Now he has taken up running the local flower shop in town with his pudgy Staffordshire bull terrier, Angie for company.

When Leo visits the new bookstore across the street, he is instantly drawn to the beautiful man with his wild curls, sweet smile and his glittering piercings.

The attraction between Jay and Leo is instant, hot and sizzling. When friendship blooms into something more, will Jay learn to trust again and give into their intense chemistry brewing from the moment they met?

But fate was funny like that. It was almost like a game of D&D—roll your dice and see what happens. And if you’re lucky, you get your happy ever after.

This was such a sweet opposites attract romance.

There was an instant connection between Jay and Leo from the moment they crossed paths.

I looked forward to the game nights, cosplaying and the Dragon and Dungeon games.

Edward and Emily were such warm and supportive secondary characters.

Overall this is an adorable read with fun banter, sexy times and lots of geeky overload. If you're a geek like me you will absolutely love this!

If you loved this one, Edward and Izzy’s story, Charisma Check is up next!
